NELA-Illinois is proud to host an innovative Know Your Rights hybrid Lunch & Learn. Please join Moderator Robin Potter of Robin Potter & Associates, PC on July 8, 2025, at 12:00 p.m as she interviews Christopher Whitaker, a digital expert and the Executive Director of the Alliance of Civic Technologists (ACT). Christopher will present on cybersecurity and digital protections in the Trump 2.0 era. NELA-IL invites and welcomes members of the Chicago National Lawyers’ Guild (NLG); the Chicago National Accountability Project (C_NPAP) and to persons receiving this notice. Join us in the spirit of learning and working together in coalition in these challenging times.

Attendees are encouraged to bring your laptops and phones. Topics include:

Understanding threats to digital security;
How to protect devices and data;
The importance of compartmentalizing information and data;
Considerations if you are traveling or protesting and,
What to do if law enforcement seeks your devices or phones.

This CLE will be presented IN PERSON at Hughes Socol, 70 West Madison, 40th Floor. ID must be presented at the lobby reception.

During the registration process, you will be asked whether you are attending IN PERSON or VIRTUALLY VIA ZOOM. The purpose of registration is to provide a list of in-person attendees to the building reception and to have an appropriate amount of food available. 

Lunch will be available for those attending in person. Those attending virtually will receive an email with the Zoom the day before the event.
