Dec. 12, 2012, former NELA/Illinois President, Mary Lee Leahy passed away at 72, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Mary Lee was a Springfield lawyer whose advocacy lead to a 1990 U.S. Supreme Court decision banning most political hiring. She was a valuable member of the community, a zealous advocate for those who had no voice, and a dear friend to many of us. She will be missed.
